Q. Can anyone tell me when curry (yellow curry a la Japan) caught on with the public in Korea?

Japanese-style curry was introduced to Korea during the Japanese colonization.

And it wasn't until the 1980s that it exploded in popularity with Korean consumers.

At that time, Ottogi Foods launched a three-minute curry.

It was a kind of convenience food... and the ad copy was "Ottogi curry on Sunday."
